Fedora Integrations

The Fedora Commons repository system is the core of a burgeoning collection of community developed software, providing a powerful, flexible foundation for a wide variety of information management applications.

Hydra

Hydra is an open source repository software solution based on the Fedora Repostiory software with an ecosystem of compenents using Ruby on Rails, Solr and Blacklight. Hydra allows institutions deploy robust, durable digital repositories (the body) supporting multiple heads – fully featured digital asset managment applications and tailored workflows. Hydra is supported by a vibrant active community, which shares common design (and other) principles in order to construct a successful Hydra “head” for specific use cases. For more information,
Visit the Hydra Project website for news and general information at projectHydra.org.
Visit the Hydra Project wiki for more detailed project information.

Islandora

Islandora is an open-source software framework designed to help institutions and organizations and their audiences collaboratively manage, and discover digital assets using a best-practices framework.  Islandora was originally developed by the University of Prince Edward Island’s Robertson Library, but is now implemented and contributed to by an ever-growing international community.

Built on a base of Drupal, Fedora, and Solr, Islandora releases solution packs which empower users to work with data types (such as image, video, and pdf) and knowledge domains (such as Chemistry and the Digital Humanities). Solution packs also often provide integration with additional viewers, editors, and data processing applications.

Visit the Islandora Project website for more information at http://islandora.ca/.

More Community Software

DuraSpace also provides an infrastructure for sharing information about community-developed software on the Fedora Wiki, organized in the following categories.

Since 30 years I work on Database Architecture and data migration protocols. I am also a consultant in Web content management solutions and medias protecting solutions. I am experienced web-developer with over 10 years developing PHP/MySQL, C#, VB.Net applications ranging from simple web sites to extensive web-based business applications. Besides my work, I like to work freelance only on some wordpress projects because it is relaxing and delightful CMS for me. When not working, I like to dance salsa and swing and to have fun with my little family.
