Oracle : Setup ArchiveLOG mode

Archive logging is essential for production databases where the loss of a transaction might be fatal. It is generally considered unnecessary in development and test environments. A general view on a database oracle Instance is Like below :

archivelog01

Setup Destination Folders for Archivelog in Initialisation File :

 archivelog02

Validate Parameters files by restarting the database :

archivelog03

Now it is time to activate Archivelog Mode and verify that it is setup in place :

archivelog04archivelog05

Notice the oldest log sequence online after the switch command. In the destination files you see archive created by forcing alter switch on control log sequence Files.
